Lancashire Hall is an 18th-century country house that has been completely renovated and refurbished to an exceptional standard. As a Grade I listed building, the project required a careful approach that balanced preservation with modern performance across the main house, outbuildings, and grounds.
Burning Desires was asked to handle all fireplace, chimney, flue, and stove works as part of the wider restoration.

The refurbishment brought together interior designers, architects, and specialist builders to restore the property from a dilapidated state into a fully realised family home. Our role was to work closely with the design team to ensure each fireplace respected the building’s history while meeting the practical requirements of modern family living.
The scope included:
Design details for each room were prepared by KW Interiors, and we worked alongside their builders and architects to deliver fireplace solutions tailored to each space.
Several original marble fireplaces were carefully refurbished, with new hearths, interiors, and grates introduced where needed. As part of the wider works, chimney stacks were rebuilt by the main contractor. After this, we installed suitable steel flexible liners to each chimney as required.
A bespoke dog grate was specially designed and commissioned for the main entrance hall fireplace. This was paired with Italian black slate, reed internals, and a flue gathering system to suit the scale and importance of the space.
Elsewhere in the house, a new Chesneys limestone fireplace was installed, alongside a combination of grates and stoves in reception rooms and bedrooms. While some fireplaces were kept entirely original with open grates, wood-burning stoves with modern features were introduced in certain rooms where more efficient heat was needed.
